What was it?
This was a collection of various smaller pieces that we put into old books that we painted together to create a solid block that separated in half to make a 2 page book.
This is the cover of my book I chose a title that is confusing and strange on purpose. We also had to chose an image that we liked. I close this picture of 2 people waling on a beach under water. I liked this image because It makes the person looking do a double take and look back because you have to make sure you know what you are seeing.

Dada/Surrealist Poem
Originally we had to use cut out news paper to create a poem. We could have made a Dada style poem which is basically random words and phrase pout together. Or we could create a surrealist style poem. I chose to create a surrealist style poem. My original work didn't fit so I drew using a thick sharpie to represent the style of my original piece.

Collage
This is a collage on the 2nd Page in my book. Its purpose was to be confusing in an artistic kind of way. It is a collection of words and images from a magazine. I used the words open music obsession as my main phrase in the picture. I combined this with images like eyes and colorful confusing backgrounds.

Ode Poem
We were tasked with writing an ode to a common everyday object. This was supposed to be in the form of a love poem in sorts where we talk and parse out object. It was supposed to have no specific structure and go off on tangents to describe different aspects of the object we chose. I chose a small silver ash try for my object because I really liked how it was such a shiny silver surface and figured I could write a lot about it.

Analysis of Awakenings by: Robert Desnos
“Awakenings” By Robert Desnos Analysis
In this surrealist poem by Robert Desnos he describes a visit from a strange visitor in his dreams who he comes to recognize as a part of himself. I believe that he is talking about this event as a dream because he states at the beginning of the poem “Middle of the night in the middle of sleep”. He says in the middle of sleep which says that this whole event occurs when he is asleep or during a dream. Further evidence of this is presented when he mentions the visitor is “a nocturnal visitor.” This further gives the idea that he is dreaming. He then goes on to question who this male visitor is. He says this statement last about the visitor that connects with what is mentioned later in the poem. He says “is he a reflection of ourselves in the mirror.” This gives support to the idea that this visitor is actually himself. Additionally he makes mention that this version of himself is “back from a transparent abyss” showing that this version of himself has visited him before. Then the dreamer and his other self realise that they are no longer the same any more. This is shown through this quote from the poem “then he realises we’ve changed and the key no longer turns the lock.” The he in the quote refers the the visitor which is a different version of the dreamer. Further proof that they are the same person is that it says we’ve changed giving credit to the idea that again that the dreamer and the visit are the same person. Next the poem gives us more information about the dreamers second version of himself. It says the quote “Is this the origin of ghosts? The origin of dreams? The birth of regrets?” Most important is the part that says the birth of regrets. It shows that this other version of the dreamer is something or was from a time the dreamer now regrets. Building off this it says “for the old images of myself” and “no longer knock at my door visitor” this shows that this other version of the dreamer is in fact an older version of himself that the dreamer now regrets. Also it shows that the visitor is a version of the the dreamer that the dreamer no longer wants to be associated with or a part off. So to wrap up this story is about a man who dreams he gets visited by an older version of himself who he regrets. He questions why this version of himself came back and ends by saying he wants no part of this regretful version of himself any more.
