Re Creating an object using paper-mache
Step 1: making the basic shape
Step 2: covering in paper-mache
I used a layer of paper-mache to make my mold of my ashtray stronger. I put 2 layers to make the sides not so flimsy. I did the top and bottom part separate to make it easier to assemble later on. I used hot glue to keep both pieces together.
Step 3: covering in aluminum foil
I wanted my re created ash trey to be shiny and silver like my real one. I thought originally I was going to paint it with metallic paint to get the effect I was going for. Then I had the idea of using aluminum foil to cover the surface to make it shiny. I used a spray adhesive to keep the foil on the surface. To the left you can see my final product I ended up with.
